Parque das Cidades Mission

The ambitious Parques das Cidades project was developed with the aim of asserting and promoting Algarve with direct participation in the organisation and hosting of the European Football Championships– UEFA EURO 2004™ in mind, a project that involves the upgrading of a total area of 225 hectares, of which more than 70% consists of open green areas and walkways.

The main attraction of this important urban project is Stadium Algarve , one of the coveted stages for EURO 2004 and which is already a conspicuous feature of the landscaped architecture of the region.

Parque das Cidades is a developmental project for Algarve there will be important infrastructures to complement the Stadium, such as a Sports Complex, Congress Centre, Central Hospital and an important multifaceted green area that will include a Botanical Gardens and Trim Park amongst other recreational, sporting and instructive amenities.

This distinguished and important project is furthermore an example of inter-municipal cooperation insofar as its implementation has only been possible due to the foresight of the Loulé and Faro local authorities, which have united to form the Loulé/Faro Municipal Association and which has entrusted the coordination, execution and management of the development to the firm Sociedade de Concepção, Execução e Gestão do Parque das Cidades Loulé/Faro.
